• * The entrance fee applies to persons who are neither locals nor have a residence permit (Residenz).
• # In the car park-ing lot it can be so windy that a car moves back and forth.
• ° Even after the turnoff, the whole way to the car park is asphalted (it may have potholes in parts). About 7km before the national park, a toll of Colónes 700 (Costa Rican currency, in US$ it is about 1.20) per person is charged for the passage.

A tour leads past six "Corners (Rincón)". These are very different. 1) Laguna Fumarólica: A lagoon with hot water - 2) Pailas de agua: Stones covered with sulphur - 3) Pailas de barro: Mud that bubbles - 4) Volcancito: Smoke rising steadily from a hole in the ground - 5) Fumarolas: Boiling hot water, which therefore bubbles permanently - 6) Catarata estacional: A waterfall that looks much more impressive in the rainy season.
